Inspiring resources I use

April 3, 2023

Sometimes a developer or a web designer need something inspiring to start off with a new project: a font, illustration kit, an icon pack or a lot more resources & tools. This may be a big problem when you happen to be working on your side-projects.

In this post I listed some of the interesting resources I use on daily basis.

Lookup.design

One of my most favorite completely free resource is lookup.design for its simplicity. There you can find examples for every component, ui pattern, page type or brand. Searchbar returns awesome results & never disappoints.

The project also provides hand-picked typography and landing pages tools for inspiration.

Typography inspiration heavily helps me picking certain combinations of fonts. Not only it helps me a lot designing mockups but also lets my mind pick what design's the best for the combination.

Landing pages, au contraire, help me with design experiments. Since those are hand-picked, that means you can lookup the way a service or a product work with their UI/UX.

Design Vault

Design Vault might be an another great free alternative to lookup.design. Unlike the project listed above, Design Vault provides mobile app inspiration. This brings design on the whole new level.

I de facto use it to borrow best practices from world's best products.

awwwwards

Yet another example of innovative, creative & eye candy applications. But awwwwards per se is related to web only & is used to share the best of the best sites out there. It is a collection of winners & nominees for the best site awards.

Its scores are calculated by viewer votes for nominees added to the site. Therefore picks are usually creative.

Pattern Collect

Sometimes you may face graphic & branding issues. Pattern Collect provides a curated gallery of patterns by awesome designers & illustrators.

Gallery is divided into a bunch of categories and usually helps find inspiration for branding.

Logggos

Yep, logggos is about logotypes. The project helps you browse some of the best logos sorted by industries, themes, typography style, branding color and more.

I've been using it as the reference while designing own тАЭbrandsтАЭ. A catalog offers great well-designed logos.

There are a lot more resources you may find on the internet but those are the ones I use & love the most. All these help me with designing, developing & a lot more.
